Term 1 Week 3 2025
Start to the Year
All classes have made a great start to the year, with our tamariki settling into their new classes and getting to know new classmates and their teacher. All kaiako/teachers are spending time in the first few weeks establishing routines and setting expectations for the learning. Please take some time to talk to your child about their start to the year and what is happening in their classroom.
Te Matatini

Te Matatini is an exciting event for Taranaki Iwi to host and we hope that you enjoy this amazing event , if you are planning to attend.
With this event comes an increase in people and traffic congestion in and around New Plymouth, Ngamotu. We ask for your support and patience around our kura during school hours, particularly during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-ups. Our staff will increase supervision of Road Patrol over this time. We encourage our whānau to walk to and from school when suitable to support traffic management. Ka nui te mihi ki a koe mo to tautoko - thank you very much for your support!
Caught Being Good
Those drawn out last week were Andrea Comia, Harlem Wikohika ,Asher Simmers and Laken Osborne. Congratulations. George Bosson was Caught in a Book - well done George!
Whānau Picnic- Save the date !

Bring a blanket and some food and come along to have your picnic tea on Thursday March 20th from 5pm at Welbourn. There will be music, a chance to play a game or two and have some kai, while you connect with other families and staff. The Home and School, who are organising this event, will run a sausage sizzle ( $2) and there will also be juicies ($1)) for sale. We would love to see you there!

Garden To Table
Room 8 and room 13 have had the chance to put their knife skills into practice with chopping and slicing tomatoes from our school garden to make bruschetta.

Exploring Feelings
Research says that growing emotional literacy for the tamariki helps them internalise the vocabulary and attach it during emotional experiences. This will help in developing their skills and grow into well regulates adults.

Road Patrol Help and Road Safety
We are still looking for parent help with road patrol on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. If you can spare half an hour between 8.25- 8.55 am on any of these days please contact the school office. Kia Ora!
Also the NPDC and Welbourn are working together to keep everyone safe . You will have noticed cones on the burm on Cumberland Street this week to discourage parking there. Please continue to keep this area free of vehicles. We ask that you cross at the school crossing with your children at all times. This is purely a safety issue. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sports News
Summer Sports: Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to coach and manage teams this season. Without your support these teams wouldn’t be able to play. Rippa rugby - at this stage we are not going ahead with this code for Term 1. |
