Term 2 Highlights
Term 2 has been a busy and exciting time for our school, filled with a wide range of learning and special events. Our Year 5/6 tamariki represented us with pride at the Interschool and Rippa Rugby tournaments. We welcomed ERO visitors into our kura and continued to strengthen our learning and teaching practices.
Kapa haka sessions have been a highlight, building both confidence and connection. Pink Shirt Day reminded us of the importance of kindness and standing up for others. Our Enviro Group enjoyed a meaningful day at Rotokare, while Garden to Table sessions kept our hands busy and our learning grounded in sustainability.
Students also took part in the Kiwi Competitions, and we came together to celebrate Puanga — a special time to reflect and look forward.
A huge thank you to our amazing ākonga, kaiako and support staff for your energy, passion, and teamwork. You all help make our kura a special place to learn and grow. To our whānau, thank you for your partnership in the learning journey for your tamariki. Have a safe and relaxing holiday break.

Seeking new BOT members

Welbourn`s school Board of Trustees are looking for new members . If you care about what we’re doing and want to help us grow, please think about joining us .You don’t need to have all the answers — just some good energy and a willingness to share your expertise and ideas. Kia Ora!
If you’d like to find out more or talk to a current board member about what’s involved, please contact:
office@welbourn.school.nz
In addition, Home and School are also on the look out for a Treasurer. Full support will be given and the role is not complex in the least. We meet twice a term and would love to welcome you on board.
Home and School
Cookie Time Fundraiser - H&S are fundraising to help with funds for the new Open Classroom and we are kicking off our efforts with a Cookie time Fundraiser. Forms will go out with tamariki so keep an eye out in the school bag. The cookies are the Original Chocolate Chip flavour, with 20 cookies per bag for $20. Forms are to be returned by Friday 18 July, and delivery of cookies will be around 2 weeks from then. Forms can be returned to the office with cash (please pop money in a labelled bag or envelope so we know who it belongs to), or you can return the form to the office and deposit the money into the Home & School account on the order form. Please put child's name and room number on details. We encourage tamariki to be safe while fundraising so asking parents friends, family, neighbours, parents work , rather than door knocking is preferable.

Social and Emotional Coaching Corner

As parents, it’s really about having those everyday chats with your kids — talking things through, listening, and guiding them along the way. It’s about the little moments that teach them how to be kind, thoughtful, and responsible.
Being consistent and showing them through your own actions makes a huge difference — they’re always watching and learning from you. It’s amazing how much kids pick up from the way we talk with them. A calm chat when they’re upset, explaining instead of snapping, or just asking their opinion — it all helps them grow into thoughtful, capable people.
Lost Property

Lost Property - There is a large amount of children's clothing being left at school each week . Please help us by naming all clothing. As we do not have space to store it, it would be good if you could please find time to come and have a look. If they remain unclaimed for a month or so we do take them to hospice.
If it is dry on the last day of term , we shall display them by the front gate.
