MATHSWEEK
Remember your maths dress up for tomorrow - Friday 16th August. All classes have had a lot of fun this week working on mathematical problems and earning maths stars. Based on The Olympics, Survivor Series has been very successful and classes have been challenged to solve the clues daily. Children have had to decipher numbers for letters, use grids and coordinates to work out many hidden messages to find daily clues and collect items that will hopefully lead to the treasure being found tomorrow. Children have also been eagerly trying to estimate how many lollies are in the jar. The large jar will be coming home with one lucky child tomorrow. (There are enough lollies to share with the whole family!)
A huge thanks to Michael (Mr Shearer ) & Katrina (Mrs Lilley) for organising and preparing Mathsweek and Survivor Series clues for all classes.
Garden to Table
Kia ora from the garden and the kitchen. Your children are getting skilled in the kitchen with every class. This learning starts in the garden and the life skills, Science skills and processes the children have been developing throughout the year with Mrs Nicholls, have been wonderful to observe. Her passion for this mahi is contagious and we hope our ākonga are sharing their learning with you at home. Thank you so much to those families who have already helped by sending their eggshells, coffee grounds, newspapers and cardboard. This means we can top up layers with our fantastic compost that Kez and the students make here at school, with the help of our fabulous caretakers
Charlie and Nigel. A real team effort!
NZ Playhouse - The Reluctant Dragon
Last Friday, we had the opportunity to be entertained during THE RELUCTANT DRAGON. It was great to see the students enjoying the show and we are very lucky to have the Board of Trustees support with the cost. A thank you also to Tracy Rudman who brings these shows to us each year and makes sure they run smoothly
Before and After School Reminder
Before School
We have noticed an increasing number of students in the school grounds at or before 8am. There are no adults available to supervise the children at this time and classrooms are only accessible from 8.30am, at the earliest.
After School
Likewise, after school, we are seeing children waiting up to 45 minutes to be picked up. Again, we do not have staff to supervise them and keep them safe, which is our main concern. Our rule is that all children waiting for pick up are only to be by the gate, on or by the benches there.
