Taranaki Cross-Country
On Wednesday, Welbourn sent a team of 29 runners to the Taranaki Cross Country which was held in Hawera. The 9 and 10 year olds had to run 2 km and the 11yr olds had to run a very demanding 3 km course. The 9 and 10 year old races had up to 200 runners in each race and there were about 100 runners in the 11 year old races. All of our runners ran with great determination and perseverance to complete the challenging course. Well done to all of the children who participated ! You can feel very proud of your achievements.
A big congratulations to the following runners who finished in the top 10 of their race… Outstanding!!
Freya Davis Andrews 5th in the 10yr old girls
Elissa Sherie 10th in the 10 yr old girls
Libby Whareaitu 4th in the 11 yr old girls
Hailey Hendrikse 10th in the 11 yr old girls
Lewis Davies 8th in the 11 yr old boys
Garden to Table
Kez has been working with all the classes throughout the school on Garden to Table throughout the year. We are so lucky to be able to give our students such wonderful opportunities. Here are some highlights from this week;
Puriri Moth Learning
Room 12 were lucky to witness a beautiful Puriri moth laying her eggs. We have learned about the life cycle of these amazing creatures.
Apple Fritters
Room 5 made apple fritters. They learned how to grate, mix and flip. Of course they also tasted them... yummy was their review!
Welbourn Sixers Win Gold
On Wednesday the 25th of September, the Welbourn Sixers went into their season final excited and nervous. They had us on the edge of our seats right up until the very last minute and they pulled together to clinch their 32-31 victory over a veritable opponent in Mangorei School. They are so proud of this well earned achievement, as they should be, and even more special as it was their very last game for Welbourn. Congratulations Boston Prestney, Oliver Bason, Carter Morgan, Jimmy Rei- Hoskin, Lucas Maycock, George Moore, Cian Demchy, Solomon Pulotu and Mason Sleep. Ka rawe!
Term 1 2025 Out of Zone Applications
Welbourn is advertising places for out-of-zone students who will be starting in Term 1 2025. If you live out of our school zone but have a child who will be joining a current OoZ sibling, you still need to apply for an 'out of zone' place. This can be done by clicking this link: Term 1 OoZ Application Form. Alternatively, you can pick
up an application from the school office.
Applications close on Friday 27th of September at 3.30 pm. All of this information is also on our school website.
On the website alongside this, is an expression of interest link, for both in-zone and out-of-zone children, who
feel that Welbourn would be a good option as their future place of learning.
